1.       Man is weak, compared to his enemies, Ps. 6:2

a.       Had Adam been strong spiritually he would have seen through the wiles of the serpent

b.       The other enemies which man cannot face on his own strength are sin and flesh, Rom. 6:16; Rom 8:5-8

2.       Whatever help man receives from fellow men is inadequate or, as is sometimes the ease, is motivated by selfish considerations but the help of God is timely and genuine, Ps. 145: 8-9, Jer. 29:11-13

3.       Since there is no real and effective help from any other source Jesus the Saviour is available, offering to bail man out of his troubles, Matt. 11:28-30
