Week 1:                      February 13

Topic:                         The Meaning of Repentance

Moderator:                Dr. Femi Bammeke

Praise Worship Leader:       Mrs. Remi Keyede

The theme for our January fellowship meeting was “The God of Promise And Performance”.  Every child of God is eager to claim these promises, especially those to which there are no explicit preconditions, Gen. 28:22

Yet, no one who lives in sin can expect God to show His favour on him or her. This is why the doctrine of repentance should not be ignored by those who regard heaven as their destination.

1.         To repent is to acknowledge that you have committed an erro r

2.         At the spiritual level repentance is the acceptance from the heart, that a sin in whatever form alienates God, and any part played by the individual or group requires penitence. John 9:31

3.         Without sin there will be no need for repentance or forgiveness, Ps. 103:2-3

Week 2:                     February 20

Topic:                          Repentance: The Ministry of John The Baptist

Moderator:                 Professor Adenike Abiose

Praise Worship Leader:   Mrs. C.S. Akingbade

1.               John The Baptist was the forerunner, the one who paved the way for the mission of Jesus Christ, as predicted by Prophet Isaiah, Isaiah 40:3-5, and confirmed by John The Baptist himself, John 1:29-30

2.               His message was centred on repentance as the precondition for the remission of sins, Luke 3:3

3.               According to John repentance must go beyond mere declaration. Being descendants of Abraham does not automatically qualify the Jews for the kingdom of heaven.  Those who do not repent of their sins will end up in hell, Luke 3:7-9

4.               John’s message was honest and straight forward. Unlike some prophets of our generation he never claimed any special status or power. John 1:19-30
