1.       The Meaning of Obedience

*        The willingness to obey a set of rules or command by a superior or higher authority.

*        At the spiritual level obedience is submission to the will of God, Isaiah 1:19

2.       Disobedience attracts sanctions because it makes God angry with even His own beloved children, Ps. 7:11

1.       God is merciful and gracious but He punishes disobedience. Adam lost his position and privileges when he disobeyed God’s clear instructions, Gen. 2:15-17.  He also put the future of the human race in jeopardy until Jesus came to return man to God, I Cor. 15:45, 47

2.       Disobedience leads to loss of communication and companionship with God, I Sam. 28:5&6

3.       Partial obedience is disobedience, and the punishment can be severe, I Kings 13:11-24

1.       God will honour you even as He honoured men of faith who endured hardships and/or persecution for His sake, Gen. 22:15-18, 2Tim. 4:5-8

2.       He repays them for their sacrifice, here on earth and gives them eternal life which is the ultimate prize for all followers of Christ, Mark 10:29-30
